Thanh Luu
Thanh Luu received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of
Alberta in 2002. During his final undergraduate year, he explored
the chemistry of acetylenic macromolecules. After graduating from
the B.Sc. program, he entered graduate studies in Chemistry at the
University of Alberta and continued with research on the topic of “Synthetic
Methodology and Characterization of Polyynes for Use of Natural Products
and Materials Chemistry” under the supervision of Prof. Tykwinski.
During this time, he visited Japan and researched “Practical
Methods for the Synthesis of 2-bromo-3-formylthiophene” with
Prof. Tobe in Osaka University. He joined Prof. Bundle to research
the “Development of Glycoconjugate Polymeric Vaccines for the
Treatment of Candida albicans” after obtaining his Ph.D in
2007.
In addition to his teaching assistant duties and research,
he has participated in the Outreach Program since 2003, demonstrating
science experiments at schools for students from elementary to high
school level.
